Sam & Amy‘s Summer Staycation is over, but you can re-live the whole journey here! Captain Sam, first mate Amy and cabin boy Dangerous Dave spent a whole week on a Narrow Boat. They travelled the canals and waterways of the East Midlands, seeing many of you along the way.
Thank you to Hire a Canalboat for providing the narrow boat for Sam & Amy’s mini adventure.
If you’re missing Captain Sam, First Mate Amy, Cabin Boy Dave and Skipper Simon then here’s some of their best bits from their Great East Midlands Staycation.
It’s been a wet, stormy day on the crew’s voyage today, it separated the pros from the fakers, and the captain had to be replaced!

Skipper Simon’s Video Diary:
We also don’t think Amy will be wanting to share a bed with Sam anytime soon… awkward.
After strained relations on-board, the crew had a mutiny and overthrew Captain Sam, luckily First Mate Amy stepped up to the helm and took charge, braving the choppy waters to arrive in Nottingham.
On the evening, we got to see some of the East Midlands’ hottest new talent at the Waters Edge pub in Castle Marina, Nottingham… and some dodgy singing from our lot.

On the evening we went to the Plank & Leggit pub in Sawley for our Karaoke night!
The pub’s characters came out to entertain kids and we even had face painting and balloon modelling, plus lots of you came down to join us sing our favourite songs.

It’s Sam & Amy‘s second day on their narrowboat, as they travel from Leicester to Nottingham. Today we catch up with Cabin Boy Dangerous Dave who is not happy with Captain Sam!
Captain’s Log, Day 2:
On the evening we watched England beat Ukraine in the footy at the Plough Inn riverside bar in Normanton!
We also entertained the kids and families with some mini games before kick off. Our Gem Stars were there taking pictures of you.

The first night of Sam & Amy‘s Staycation was lots of fun as they hosted their own pub quiz at the Hope & Anchor in Syston! Based in a lovely location next to the canal and opposite Water Meade Park, and lots of you came down to join us!
