Second child dies after Leicester crash

A second child’s died after a serious crash in Leicester on Monday morning

The second child involved in a serious collision in Leicester has died.

The collision at the junction of Narborough Road and Braunstone Gate involved a dark BMW, a red Mini Cooper and two pedestrians who were with two children in pushchairs.

The children, a one-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl, received serious injuries and were taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary.

The boy died on Monday afternoon and the girl died later during the night.

The two pedestrians, both men aged 29 and 28, received minor injuries.

A 40-year-old woman and a 61-year-old man were arrested in connection with the incident and have since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Mark Watling of the Force’s serious collision investigation unit, said: “If anyone witnessed the incident or the events leading up to it and have not yet spoken to the police we would urge them to contact us.”
