To have a chance of winning this year's Eurovision Song Contest, British hope Bonnie Tyler will have to outperfom the hot favourites from Denmark.

Sky Bet rates Only Teardrops by Emmelie de Forest as 4/6 to bring the bacon home to the Danes, way ahead of the chasing pack.

Sky makes Norway’s I Feed You My Love by Margaret Berger second favourite at 5/1, while Ukraine is at 8/1.

Tyler had been hoping to avenge the dismal performance by the UK last year when Engelbert Humperdinck limped into second to last place with Love Will Set You Free.

However, she is a rather longer shot at 50/1.

And betting shows she is more fancied to come last than first, with William Hill offering a price of 8/1 that she finishes bottom of the points table.

Tyler, who is performing the track Believe in Me, has still managed to make a big impression in Malmo, which has been her home for the past few days in preparation for the huge show.

At a concert featuring five of the leading countries involved in backing Eurovision, the crowd was chanting her name as each of the acts came on stage.

And as she and her team tucked in to a traditional Swedish feast in a local restaurant, the other diners joined in singing her entry.

A life-size statue of the late singer Amy Winehouse is set to be placed near the Camden home where she died after the local council approved the plans.

The bronze is expected to be erected on the balcony of the Roundhouse music venue around September despite objections from some conservationists who think it is too early for a memorial.

The statue is of the star in a short dress with her trademark beehive hairstyle. It has been agreed that the Scott Eaton design will not be lit up at night to prevent crowds gathering.

Winehouse, 27, had a famous affinity with the building and the whole Camden area.

The venue was where she made her last public performance and she played there with Paul Weller when it was re-opened in 2006.

Winehouse accidentally drank herself to death at her north London house in July 2011, a coroner ruled in January.

St Pancras Coroners Court heard there had been no suspicious circumstances and no evidence of illicit drugs in her system.

But the level of alcohol in her blood had been over five times the drink-drive limit. Two empty vodka bottles were found on the floor of her bedroom.

The Back to Black singer’s home in Camden Square became the focus of a vigil by fans.

The proposed statue location is reportedly seen as partly to steer them away from the residential square and as a way of inspiring youngsters who attend creative courses at the music venue.

Her father, Mitch, said: “Amy was in love with Camden, and it is the place her fans from all over the world associate her with. The family have always been keen to have a memorial for her in the place she loved the most, which will provide fans a place to visit and bring extra custom to local businesses.

“The Roundhouse seemed an obvious choice of location as Amy had a special relationship with the venue. She played there with Paul Weller when the venue re-opened in October 2006 and her last public performance was on the same stage just days before she passed away in July 2011.

“We are strong supporters of The Roundhouse and their innovative music programmes which provide access to projects and opportunities for young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and we have funded their Roundhouse Radio programme for the next three years.

“Amy was a wonderful person, she did a lot for Camden and did a lot for kids, she was one of the greatest singers the world has ever known.”

Camden Council’s deputy mayor Councillor Jonathan Simpson, (who is also Camden’s music czar) said: “I’ve been very impressed with the designs for the memorial I’ve seen – it’s clear a great deal of thought has gone in to the plans.

“I think Amy’s legacy will live on for decades, not only because of her songwriting abilities, but through the work of the Foundation in supporting young people.

“As the Roundhouse Trust does such brilliant work with young people through their education schemes, I’m pleased the memorial will be able to go there.”

Camden Town Conservation Advisory objected to the plans during consultation.

The committee said: “We are concerned that this statue of Amy Winehouse should be proposed so soon after her death … It often takes some time to devise an appropriate and lasting memorial as well as to provide a really suitable venue.

“We are not necessarily impressed by Scott Eaton’s statue and certainly feel that a much better venue could be found.

“The proposal certainly seems to have far more commercial aims than the simple one of remembering Amy.”

Barry Gibb, the last surviving Bee Gee, says his plans to go back on the road for a UK tour will be a celebration of life with his brothers.

The 66-year-old singer/songwriter saw his entertainer brother Andy, who was not part of the group, die of a heart complaint in 1988, aged 30.

Bee Gee Maurice died due to complications during surgery in 2003, aged 53, and his twin Robin succumbed to cancer last May.

Barry played in Australia earlier this year and will entertain audiences in Birmingham, Manchester, London and Dublin in the autumn.

“On stage is hard. One minute you feel they’re right with you, the next you know you’ve got to pull something off yourself,” he told The Sun.

“The audiences have been incredible, they’ve been so supportive. They’re finding closure as well.”

Gibb said his wife Linda, with whom he has five children, had told him to stop moping around the house.

“She told me to get off my backside and stop going along with the whole idea that everything was finished for me.

“She said, ‘You’ve got music, so make music!’ That was her kicking me, so I decided to jump right in.”

The absence of his brothers is eased by having his eldest son Stephen on guitar, and Maurice’s daughter Sam singing with him.

He said: “We created this show that really celebrates everything we ever did, or as much as we could put in to a show. I feel good. I felt a lot worse last year with all the stress over Robin.

“Personally, I think Robin knew he was dying. I knew he was ill for a long time, it wasn’t just the last couple of years.

“It’s a hard reality, but we will all see it at some stage. That’s the lesson, it’s not unique to any person.”

The brothers were born on the Isle of Man before the family moved to Australia in 1958.

Their mother, Barbara, was at every one of Barry’s Australian shows last year, aged 92.

Will.i.am says he has been unfairly accused of stealing a song from Russian trance producer Arty for use on his new album.

The rapper acknowledged contacting Arty after hearing Rebound, a 2011 song which the Russian produced with his British colleague Mat Zo.

Will.i.am recorded a new version with Chris Brown called Let’s Go, which has been met with criticism online from Arty’s fans.

He said he emailed Arty, who initially responded positively to an invitation to collaborate.

But in recent weeks, the DJ told fans on his Facebook page that there was no final deal between their respective labels and “the matter is under review by our legal teams”.

Will.i.am credits Arty, whose real name is Artem Stoliarov, as a writer on the song in the liner notes for his album #willpower, which was released this week.

He blamed the slow legal clearance process and said he did not know Arty had worked with another producer on the track. He said his legal team was also at work on the issue.

“You can’t steal if you credited somebody,” explained will.i.am.

“He and I communicated. It’s not my fault he didn’t tell me about the other guy. So who is to blame? I didn’t know.”

A message sent to Arty’s label, Anjunabeats, was not immediately returned.

Voice UK judge will.i.am, whose real name is William Adams, noted that his album includes collaborations with more well-known electronic dance music producers including Afrojack, Steve Angello and Sebastian Ingrosso.

“I respect that world and in a way helped cross it over for it to be played on radio,” he said.

Will.i.am, whose group the Black Eyed Peas went on hiatus two years ago, said he faced similar issues with slow legal clearances when Estelle and Kanye West released American Boy using the beat from his 2007 song Impatient.

“I don’t mind because I like the song and I’m excited about the collaboration with Kanye and Estelle. And then the paperwork happens after it’s out,” he said.

“That happens a bunch of times where legal takes so long. The creative is instantaneous. You want things to come out.”

The total number of digital singles sold in the UK has passed one billion, according to the Official Charts Company.

The landmark figure was reached on Monday evening (April 9), nine years after legal downloads launched in the UK.

Adele’s Someone Like You has also been confirmed as the most downloaded track, with 1.46 million sales.

Moves Like Jagger, by Maroon 5 and Christina Aguilera, is in second place (1.4 million), while Gotye’s Somebody That I Used To Know is in third (1.38 million).

I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyes Peas and Rihanna’s We Found Love are fourth and fifth.

In all, 16 tracks have passed one million downloads on the UK chart and total sales continue to climb steadily.

Around 3.7 million singles are now sold each week – but when official downloads began in 2004 just 3.77 million downloads were recorded during the entire year.

The BPI, the British record industry’s trade association, said it expected new technology to boost sales even further.

“As fans increasingly download music on the move, tablets, smartphones and connected cars will drive another phase in digital music’s expansion,” said BPI Chief Executive Geoff Taylor.

The figures represent individual tracks rather than full album downloads or streaming services like Spotify.

A signed copy of The Beatles' album Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band has gone under the hammer for $290,000 (£191,000), according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The iconic album, released in 1967, is said to have been snapped up by an unnamed buyer from the US midwest.

It had been estimated to sell for $30,000 (£19,700).

The UK Parlophone copy of the album includes a high gloss cover and vinyl gatefold sleeve and it is believed to have been autographed by each of The Beatles.

The previous record for a signed Beatles album cover was $150,000, (£98,600) which was paid for a copy of the 1964 record, Meet the Beatles in 2011.

The Dallas-based Heritage Auctions, which ran the sale, described it as “one of the most spectacular jewels in our auction”.

Speaking before the sale, Beatles expert Perry Cox said: ”With my being thoroughly immersed in Beatles collectibles for over 30 years, it takes something extraordinarily special to excite me.

“But I consider this to be one of the top two items of Beatles memorabilia I’ve ever seen – the other being a signed copy of Meet The Beatles.”

Sgt Pepper’s, which includes the songs With A Little Help From My Friends and Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, was a worldwide success.

It spent a total of 27 weeks at the top of the UK Album Chart and sold an estimated 32 million copies.

Pop band Girls Aloud have seemingly announced they are splitting up following the last night of their 10-year celebration tour.

A tweet from the band’s official account today said: “We have now come to the end of our incredible time together.”

The message was sent shortly after the five singers came off stage in Liverpool, marking their last performance together as a group.

The TV manufactured band reunited for the 12-date UK tour after spending three years on solo projects.

Another Twitter message said: “Dear Alouders, we just want to say from the bottom of our hearts Thank you!!

“This tour has been an amazing experience and the perfect chance to say thank you for being on this journey with us through a decade.

“It has far exceeded any of our dreams and we hope we are forever your inspiration and reminder that dreams really do glitter!!

“Your love and support will stay with us forever but we have now come to the end of our incredible time together. Love you lots.”

The band had previously hinted at an imminent split after confessing they had no plans together after the end of the tour.

At a press conference to announce the Ten Tour last year Cheryl Cole said “we haven’t actually made any plans further than the tour” before adding that they would “wait and see how the fans react” before deciding what to do next.

Cole, Nicola Roberts, Kimberley Walsh, Nadine Coyle and Sarah Harding were put together by the ITV show Popstars: The Rivals in 2002 and claimed their first number one with Sound Of The Underground.

Looking back on their decade together, Cole tweeted last night: “To the people that haven’t been able to make it, for whatever reason, we feel your support regardless and have done for 10 yrs.”

Coyle also tweeted before going on stage: “I have seen many of you at the tour work as hard as us! That is why I cried last night on stage & probably tonight again. Not sad, happy.

“Happy tears. I cannot thank you enough. I love seeing all your faces. Ok more tears. I love you all forever. Xxxxx NC.”
