The Leicester Marathon is back for 2011 with thousands of runners preparing to take part this Sunday. Over 2,200 runners are expected to take part this year, including people taking part in the full and half marathon courses which start and end at Victoria Park.
The entry fees for this year’s event will go to the Loros hospice, in Groby Road, Leicester, and the Matt Hampson Trust.
Speaking to the Leciester Merucry, race organiser Christian Weikert-Picker spoke of his excitement about this year’s event:
We’ve been very busy indeed, our entry numbers are on par with last year and, as ever, we expect a bit of a last-minute surge to take us up to the 3,000 mark.
There are several road closures around Leicester on Sunday, find out more information by clicking here
