FAQs

Where is Gem 106 and how can I visit you?
Our offices are right in the middle of Nottingham on City Link– you can’t miss us! We’re easily reachable by road, rail, and bus. Our address if you need it is:

Gem 106, City Link, Nottingham, NG2 4NG

What is ‘Great Music Variety’ all about?
We believe that the best radio is made when it’s done locally. You know. People from ‘around here’ talking about the things that you care about. Almost all of our output comes right from our City Link studios and we’re passionate about local programmes, local information and programmes that mean something to you; hence, ‘Great Music Variety’.

Do you take song requests?
If you want to hear a song on-air you should get in touch with one of our presenters. We can’t guarantee that we will be able to play the song you request, but we like to think our playlist is a great mix  and that everyone who listens will always hear a song they like with us. If you don’t agree, tell us! We are always looking for feedback…

I love Gem 106. Can you send me some merchandise?
We love that you love us but unfortunately we can’t send out merchandise. We give out Gem 106 branded items from time to time at our events, so that is your best bet.

I’d like to advertise with Gem106. How can I do that?
If you and your business reckon we’d make a good pairing, we’d love to hear from you. You can use our contact form (selecting commercial enquiry from the choices) or if you’d prefer an informal chat over the phone then call Kiron Willacy on 01159 106 110, who will be happy to discuss your options.

I want to get in touch. How can I phone you?
If you want to speak to the presenter who is currently on-air, call 0845 1300 106 or if you’d prefer you can text us using 87867 starting your text with the word ‘Gem’

I’d love to do my Work Experience at Gem106. Can you help?
Requests for work experience places are extremely popular – we probably receive between 40-50 applications a week when we’re at our busiest, and we only take on 4 people each year, who each undertake a week long placement.

If this doesn’t put you off and you’re still interested in applying, you can use our contact form to apply (selecting work experience from the choices) and we’ll only contact those who are successful. Our work environment is fast paced, fun and there is always something happening, so if you think you’re up for it, we’d love to have you with us!

How can I listen to Gem106?
We are available on 106fm, DAB Digital Radio, here at gem106.co.uk (click ‘Listen Live’ at the top of the page) and we will soon be launching an app for the iPhone. Watch this space!

Can I have a studio tour?
We offer studio tours to schools or organisations who run radio related courses or whose work is directly related to radio only. We are unable to offer tours of the company to individuals. If you’d like to apply for a tour, use the contact form on our site, and get in touch.

I want to be a radio presenter, can you help?
Our best advice is to get as much experience as you can and build up a demo that you can send to Programme Directors. If you’d like advice from our presenters as to how they got started then you can e-mail them through their show page.

I still can’t find the answer to my question?
There’s always the chance we might have missed something, or your query might be a bit more specific. Use the contact us page and select ‘general enquiry’ and we’ll be happy to help you further.
